Killeagh u13s played in the Imokilly U13A Divional final on Sunday Sept 7th in Castlelyons against Sarfield.  This group of girls have now met 3 years in a row.

Killeagh had a full panel of players to choose from with just a few minor injuries going into the game.  This was always going to be a cracker and it was 100 miles an hour from the start.  Sars got a great start of 3 points in the opening 12 minutes before Killeagh could register a score but then Kate McCarthy who was working really hard got us on the score board. This was then followed by 2 super points by Rachel Fogarty from frees.  The game was very tight and when a free from Rachel Fogarty went to the back of the net we were thrilled.  All the Killeagh girls were working so hard we were glad to see half time. The second half started again with Sars on top and our backs and brave goalkeeper Clare Fitzgerald were very busy.  We knew we were living dangerously and then came a rocket of a goal that no one could do anything about. Kate McCarty though was on song again and put over a lovely point to leave only 2 between us but it was Sars who added 2 more points one from play and although Kate did add on another point we never looked like getting that second goal. Sars went on to win this great final by 2 pts. This was a cracker with the standard of camogie on display a credit to both teams.  Congrats Sars.

Killeagh girls can hold their high for the skill levels and honest hard work they showed.  We hooked, blocked, hand passed and fought to the bitter end with some great displays.  Our back line of Clare, Orla, Cleeva, Naimh & Ciara worked so hard putting everything on the line even Cleevas leg.  Our centre fields Amy, Donna & Kate ran, harred and hooked.  Forwards Grainne, Rachel, Megan & Katie picked some great ball and definitely grew in confidence the more the game went on.  Well done also to Carrie and Ellen who came in and tried so hard to turn the game for us.  A special thank you to our other subs who didn’t get to feature on the day but are such a HUGE part of this developing team, Patricia, Cait, Megan, Aoife, Rose & Alanna.  Thanks to John O for all the sacrifices all year and best of luck with your own football championship.

Remember girls what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger so onwards & upwards.
